Why I Went
We’ve been coming here for years — ever since I was a kid. It’s one of those spots that just sticks with you. Sea Palace a floating pagoda-style restaurant right in the middle of Amsterdam? Yes please. Go for lunch and spoiler: the dim sum is legit.
The Vibe
Sea Palace is hard to miss — it’s literally floating on the water near Amsterdam Central Station, with that classic red-and-gold Chinese design. Inside it’s spacious, a little retro, and full of families, friend groups, and regulars who know what to order.
What I Loved (Aka What You Need to Order)
-
Har Gow (shrimp dumplings) – soft, juicy, perfection
-
Siu Mai – the classic yellow-topped dumplings, super flavorful
-
Char Siu Bao – fluffy steamed buns with sweet BBQ pork
-
Egg tarts – slightly warm, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth good
Everything came out fast and fresh — and the menu is HUGE, so come hungry (or with friends to share).
Tips
-
Go for lunch or weekend dim sum — that’s when the magic happens
-
Sit upstairs by the window for views over the water
-
It gets busy, so book ahead if you want a good table (especially weekends)
Would I Go Back?
Yes, and I’d bring more people so I can try even more dishes. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for long lunches and sharing plates. A must if you’re in Amsterdam and craving proper dim sum with a view.
